Pretty awesome place. Expensive but worth it. The rooms are clean and have great history. I have never visited a bed and breakfast before so this is an awesome first time experience. It is like visiting friends. =)

I can't tell you whether or not the food is any good here because they never retuned my call. After waiting on hold for 5 minutes, I was told they'd have to call me back about a reservation for tea. They didn't. Apparently they don't need my business.

Enjoyed our stay! Room was charming! Bathroom was very tiny- If taller than 5'6", your knees will hit the door while using the toilet. Myrta was very hospitable. Sticky bun was delicious!!! Everyone should eat at David's which is right behind the inn- absolutely incredible dining experience worth more than 5 stars!

This review is only regarding the "Authentic Afternoon Tea" that was offered at the Hoyt House Inn. We did not stay at the Inn itself. The public rooms at the Inn looked lovely. However, the afternoon tea was a different story. After doing a quick search to determine where we might be able to get afternoon tea on Amelia Island for my mother's birthday gift, I decided upon the Hoyt House Inn. The website said the following: "Your server & hostess will serve you dressed in the period to send you back to the 1900′s. Enjoy the mansion and choose to sit in any of our parlors, or perhaps sit in The Amelia Lounge and enjoy a Bellini Cocktail with your three tier tray of assorted Tea Sandwiches, Smoked Salmon Canape & Truffle Mushroom Tartlets are only to name a few." Our server was dressed in a polo shirt and pants. Maybe when they talk about the 1900's they meant 1990's. Who knows? She was pleasant, so we didn't say anything. The Bellini was good. When the food came there were several problems. First of all, it was presented on one plate. Where was the three tier tray? It was extremely odd. Secondly, nothing was warm - what happened to the warm scones you get with afternoon tea? The sandwiches were below average. The cookies tasted stale. The bill came, and it included the gratuity, which seemed slightly sneaky since there were only two of us at tea. This tea was a big disappointment. Especially since it was supposed to be a special birthday gift.

We stayed at the Hoyt House a few months ago-and LOVED it!! We were greated at the door, and shown into the B&B. Our room was on the second floor, and after getting shown around the house, we settled into our room. We loved staying there--the location is perfect for walking into the historic downtown. It is only a short bike ride to the beach--and yes, there are bikes for the guests to use! The accomodations were awesome, and the breakfast......AMAZING! It is not a buffett style breakfast, but individually ordered and prepared-YUM! There is a pool in the back yard, and we felt like we were staying at our own private resort! We would definitely stay here again and again!

After scheduling our anniversary weekend about a month and a half in advance, our reservations were canceled at the last minute by another local establishment, so in desperation we started looking some place else with a vacancy. Fate smiled upon us that September day when we found the Hoyt House. This B&B is located at the corner of South 8th (A1A) and Atlantic ave only about 15 minutes off of 301 right at the east end of historic downtown; conveniently within walking distance off many great shoppes, restaurants and a great spa, Magna's, an Aveda spa. The owners, Jerry and Barb, were gracious enough to accept us into their home at the last minute and care to our recent wounds. This beautiful home was built in 1905 and has been amazingly renovated. Many rooms have whirlpool tubs and all have a TV/DVD; prices vary depending on the occasion but all budgets can find a deal in the house. The room was immaculately clean and tastefully decorated; they even straightened up our things when the cleaned the room in the morning, even lining up our shoes under the TV stand. Breakfast was spectacular, everyday the entire meal was homemade with even the french toast coming from freshly made bread. The intimate dining room seats about 15-20 and the hosts are very attentive to dietary needs, ensuring everyone is happy. The grounds were immaculate. There is a large fenced yard with a gigantic heated pool and a hot tub. There is also a gazebo and bikes that you can take for your adventures around town. We wanted a weekend of relaxing seclusion and that is what we were provided, but if you feel the need to have a connection with the outside world a computer with DSL and a printer is a available for your usage 24/7. The only complaint I can think of is that I did not want to go home. If you enjoy the historic and beautiful Atlantic coast without the hustle and bustle of more heavily trafficked sites such as Saint Augustine then this is the place for you to hang your hat.
